UNIT 7 YEAR 4 READING SKILL (MIMOSA AND FERN PLANT)

Today we discovered two interesting plants in the garden. 

A mimosa plant

• A mimosa plant
• A shy plant because its fine leaflets close quickly when touched

• Has sharp thorns on its stem
• Has pink or yellow flowers

A FERN

• Grows from spores
• One of the oldest plants on earth

• Over 10,000 species of ferns in the world

We all thought it was  a snake and stayed away.  Mrs. merlyn went closer to look.

        A few minutes later, she rose from the bush smiling. She was holding a nestling in his handkerchief! 

       It must have fallen from its nest. The nestling was not hurt, and was trying hard to free itself. It was also chirping.

       The adult birds began chirping even louder now. We realised that they were worried about their baby, so Mrs. Merlyn climbed a ladder and put the nestling back into its nest.

The adult birds went back to their nest to comfort their nestling.

It was a very touching moment. Nadiya almost cried.

Today something interesting happened in our garden. Two birds were chirping loudly. At first, we thought the birds were just happy to see us. We did not pay much attention to them.
